Simon joins fight against lowering the minimum age of criminal responsibility
Following the approval by the House of Representatives of House Bill 8858 which aims to lower down the Minimum Age of Criminal Responsibility from 15 to 12 years old, SIMON issued out a statement strongly opposing the said measure.
A renowned children’s rights advocate, SIMON joined hands with members of the Bicol Network for Children (BNC) and the Regional Inter Agency Council (RIAC) in taking a stand against the passage of the said bill based on the following grounds:
SIMON continuously supports Republic Act 9344-Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act which sets the minimum age of criminal liability at 15 years old and provides proper programs, services and interventions to children at risk and children in conflict with the law.
